Our Story

Back in 1985, Sandy Sternberg opened West Main Consignment (WMC) located then at 305 W Main St. Lansdale, PA. This was a groundbreaking move at a time when 2nd hand shopping was not considered “trendy”.  It served the community by providing 2nd hand clothing and accessories for adults at affordable prices.

Around that same time, Sandy was introduced, by a mutual friend, to Janice Tindall.  Janice had established a 2nd hand childrens clothing exchange “network” in Lansdale which made her an ideal fit to work at a 2nd hand clothing consignment store.  Janice worked at WMC for 10 years before buying the store in 1995 when Sandy relocated to Arizona.

The growth of the business led to relocating WMC to its current location at 15 W Main St. Lansdale, PA in 2010 acquiring additional square footage and parking for its customers.  Janice continued to run a successful business across nearly 4 decades serving generations of customers/consignors and building a community of loyal “friends” of WMC.

At the end of 2021 Janice approached Alba Guzmán, a WMC customer/consignor over the past 15 years, to present the opportunity of acquiring the store in preparation for her retirement.  Shortly after, Alba, her spouse Chris and Janice came to a purchase agreement which was settled in March of 2024.

As part of our commitment to the local community, WMC partners with The Variety Club’s “Farm to Table” program, Manna on Main Street and donate clothing to local organizations.

 

After 40 years of establishment, WMC continues to serve Landale’s diverse community and celebrates its continued growth with new customers and consignors every day.
